Mari Keiko Gonzalez, ACE

Co-Founder, Producer and President

Mari was born and raised in New York City. Her father is a civil rights attorney who represented the trans activists at The Stonewall Riots and her mother was a Broadway and television actor, teacher, and playwright, best known for the iconic 1970s Calgon commercial, "Ancient Chinese Secret". Mari studied at The School of American Ballet and performed in The Nutcracker with Mikhail Baryshnikov at Lincoln Center. She was a champion equestrian who attended The High School of Music and Art and later went on to study medicine at The University of Pittsburgh. In the early 90s, Mari wrote, directed and edited the experimental short films: The Love Thang Trilogy, Target, and X-Girl, which focused on identity, sexuality, and race. They screened at film festivals worldwide and remain in several permanent collections at Brown University, New York University, SUNY New Paltz, UC Berkley, Yale University, and The New York Public Library.

Mari went on to become an award-winning editor and worked at Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video and at Sony Music Studios until their doors closed in 2007. She continued to focus on music, live performances, concerts and documentaries for many artists including: Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Tony Bennett, Lauryn Hill, John Legend, Paul Simon, John Mayer, Wynton Marsalis, Parliament Funkadelic, Ziggy Marley, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Russell Crowe, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Billy Porter, Mariah Carey, and Alicia Keys. In 2015 she edited the documentary, Live From New York!, which looked at 40 years of comedy, music, politics and popular culture through the lens of Saturday Night Live and it was the opening night film at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival. During the period of 2015-2019, Mari edited the Nina Simone, Stevie Nicks, Lou Reed, Joan Jett, NWA, Tupac, Janet Jackson and The Cure's induction films for HBO's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. She was the editor of the documentaries Apache 8, about an all-women, White Mountain Apache wild land firefighter crew; Jimmy Carter Rock and Roll President, which was the opening night film for the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival; and Tom Petty Somewhere You Feel Free, about the making of Petty's transformative 1994 solo album, Wildflowers, which won the audience award at the 2021 SXSW Film Festival. She is currently editing James Brown: Say It Loud! produced by Questlove, Mick Jagger and Peter Afterman and is a producer on the documentary Left Behind, a film about the systemic inequities in education and the road to opening the first NYC public elementary school for dyslexic students.

Lorraine Galvis, Esq.,

Co-Founder, Producer and Chief Legal Officer 

Lorraine Galvis is a licensed attorney in New York and the Founder of Galvis & Co., an entertainment firm that provides legal support to music and media creators, writers, producers and artists working in the entertainment industry.  In 1997, she interned at Daddy's House Recording Studios, then owned by Sean "Puffy" Combs.  She was then recruited to work for Combs and his executive team at Bad Boy Entertainment. After two years at Bad Boy, she graduated with Honors at Mother Cabrini High School and went on to attend Fordham University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in 2003.  Throughout her college career, she worked part-time at Sony Music Studios where she met and did an internship with Gonzalez.  Lorraine later attended New York Law School where she earned her Juris Doctor degree.

She formed her law firm in October 2014, which was certified as a New York City minority & woman-owned business enterprise (MWB/E) in 2017 and a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) in 2022. Over the years, Lorraine has served as counsel to many award-winning and award-nominated artists, musicians, restaurant owners, and social media influencers. She has also represented several small businesses, including various entertainment companies, E-commerce, and web-based companies, entrepreneurs, and freelancers.

Galvis & Co. routinely handles business formation and intellectual property matters, specifically corporate formations, partnership agreements, and trademark and copyright registration, maintenance, and enforcement. Ms. Galvis also drafts and negotiates various commercial contracts, such as professional service & vendor agreements, independent contractor agreements; consulting agreements, influencer and podcast deals; NDA’s; web-based agreements including Terms of Use and Privacy Policies; media- and entertainment-related agreements including audio/visual content licensing, exclusive music recording and publishing deals, and management and production agreements; contract release and settlement agreements; joint venture agreements; operating, shareholder, and employment agreements; and business transfer and sale agreements, such as asset purchase, commercial leases, and related agreements.
